10 Trash Horror Movies With 1 Amazing Kill

3. Jaws: The Revenge - Mrs. Ferguson

Jaws: The Revenge Banana Boat
Universal

While it's admittedly a major guilty pleasure of your writer's, there's no escaping the fact that Jaws: The Revenge is hot garbage.

Infamously, the tagline for this Joseph Sargent-helmed picture was "This time, it's personal". That personal means a great white shark stalks Lorraine Gary's Ellen Brody from Amity Island to the tropical shores of the Bahamas. Somehow this is tied to a long-standing beef between this shark and the Brody clan, despite every shark of the previous three movies having been destroyed.

Throw in the illogicality of one of these apex predators not just surviving but thriving in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Drop in said shark bringing down a seaplane. Then add in a splash of Michael Caine's cream outfit being miraculously bone dry after he's taken a fall in the water.

One standout moment of The Revenge, though, is the banana boat demise of Diane Hetfield's Mrs. Ferguson. With Ellen's young granddaughter Thea on this boat, there's a sense of genuine dread brought to this fourth Jaws film as the great white's dorsal fin can be seen heading towards the boat. Missing Thea by only a matter of inches, this beast leaps out of the water and devours Hetfield's character.

To make this death even more memorable, Karen Young does a phenomenal job of selling the despair of Carla Brody as she watches her daughter come chillingly close to becoming shark chow.
