4. How Long Has G.I. Joe Known About The Transformers? - Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts
The latest Transformers movie ends with a hilariously unexpected crossover tease as protagonist Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) is recruited to join the G.I. Joe organisation, teeing up a potential future Transformers x G.I. Joe spin-off.
Yet the shock reveal raises one tantalising question - how long has the G.I. Joe outfit known about the existence of the Transformers? Were they aware of them prior to the events of this movie, or was their first introduction to the Robots in Diguise?
The scene comes and goes quickly without any wider context, such that fans are simply left to speculate on it.
Though certainly not an authority on the matter, Rise of the Beasts' producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura did recently offer his own informed perspective to Collider:
"I don't know the answer to that, honestly. My instinct is - and we haven't talked a lot about it because, like I said before, we don't plan it exactly - the first time the Transformers have come onto their radar is when this battle occurred. They're so good, they’re the only ones who really know that something else happened there. So, I don't think so, but it doesn't mean they haven't found some along the way and they've been trying to figure it out. So, it's one of the open-ended questions, really, that we have to figure out an answer to.”
Basically, even the creatives don't know yet, but if the spin-off ever does happen - which, with Rise of the Beasts' soft box office is certainly no guarantee - we should find out.
