10 Unanswered Questions From The Amazing Spider-Man Franchise

6. What Did The Gentleman Want?

The "Man In The Hat", as he was originally known, was something of a mystery when he first appeared in the mid-credits scene of The Amazing Spider-Man. Later revealed in the sequel to be a version of comic book character The Gentleman (who uses his wealth to form a new version of The Sinister Six in a series of novels), it has actually been confirmed that at the time this was shot, the plan was for him to be Electro. That obviously changed, once again serving as a glimpse into the series' on-the-fly make-up. What role he played in the death of Peter's parents and why he was so loyal to both Norman and Harry is left unrevealed, as is why he would help the younger Osborn form the Sinister Six. Perhaps he would have had a leading role in Drew Goddard's spin-off which, but without that, making him Gustav Fiers feels like a completely random decision- he doesn't appear to share anything in common with his comic book counterpart.
