10 Unbelievably Boring Horror Movies

5. House of Wax

Bradley Cooper The Midnight Meat Train
Warner Bros.

The original feature-length adaptation of the short House of Wax featured Vincent Price as Prof. Henry Jarrod. He was the owner of a museum who became murderous and vengeful after his associate burned it down whilst he was still inside. Despite how campy it is, it had an identity and a clear motive for the villain. We also cannot forget the fact that Vincent Price had so much fun in the role.

The 2005 remake (that no one asked for) shows a group of teens becoming stranded in a town with a wax museum and becoming victims to killers that want to make them part of the exhibit. It took a fascinating concept that whilst not very deep, at least had some identity and turned it into a snore-fest. Becoming a cliched slasher movie with absolutely no personality.

The only saving grace of this film is the genuinely horrifying way in which they show one of the victims turned into a wax model. Excluding that one scene, it is just a film devoid of intrigue.

People like to attack the performance of Paris Hilton in the movie, and whilst that is fair as she is unbelievably bad, no one else pulls a decent performance, and thus it's redundant to imply that she stands out as a particularly awful choice for the film.
