10 Underappreciated 80s Slashers

3. Slaughter High

Slaughter High came along a little later in the Slasher movie canon but is still a really fun ride with a fairly simple but well executed premise - Marty, the school nerd, is pranked by a group of jocks and general cool kids who take things a step too far.

The initial prank is run of the mill stuff: hot girl Carol (Caroline Munro of Maniac) tricks Marty into thinking she is interested in having sex with him before exposing him naked to the rest of the gang. The second prank they pull, though, has the horrific consequence of Marty being burned by acid and disfigured for life.

Ten years later the gang are returning for a high school reunion, but they’re the only ones invited, finding the school abandoned and after waiting for others to show up, they decide to break in and party anyway. Once they are in the school they are inevitably picked off as part of Marty’s revenge plot.

The FX and kills in this are all pretty good and it is an enjoyable watch overall, if a little slow in parts. The cast are all generally good to watch too with its one detracting feature being a bit of a sell-out twist at the end.
