4. Jonah Hill (Best Supporting Actor - The Wolf Of Wall Street)
The Best Supporting Actor category is full of firecracker performances this year: in fact, aside from Bradley Cooper's solid-but-not-groundbreaking performance in American Hustle, the other four actors would all be worthy recipients of the award. We've got Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave), Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) and Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) otherwise vying for the gong, and short of a major shock, Leto is going to walk away with the award for his challenging, nuanced performance. But what about Jonah Hill? Few expected him to actually be nominated for Best Supporting Actor despite his excellent performance, and it only makes the Oscar gag from This Is the End even funnier now that Hill has two nominations to his name. The only way it could get even funnier? If Hill actually wins the award outright. It's not going to happen, but at the same time, it's such a strong year that it wouldn't be a huge surprise if somehow Hill snuck in there and shocked the world.
