10 Underrated Horror Movie Remakes

The original Wes Craven helmed Hills Have Eyes is a weird, but fondly remembered a piece of pulp horror that saw a family who gets stranded in the desert after their vehicle crashes attacked by a family of cannibals.

The 2006 remake follows the same plot but with a massive dose of intensity, and transforms the cannibals into hideously deformed nuclear mutants.

The first scene of the mutants attacking is downright horrifying and makes sure the stakes are set high early on. The film also has a lot of guts and isn't afraid of shocking its audience Walking Dead style by making any character fair game to die at any point.

The designs of the mutant are spectacularly gross, brought to life with fantastic special effects and the film as a whole has a sickeningly beautiful yet gritty visual style. The movie also brings some savage kills to the table as the 2nd half becomes a gore-soaked showdown between the survivors and mutants.

With an unpredictable plot that throws the characters straight in the deep end and a unique setting, this is an exhilarating and scary ride that arguably tops the original.

It really deserves better than the mixed reviews it got upon release.
