6. Landmine Goes Click

What's It About? Chris (Sterling Knight), an American tourist, unwittingly steps on an armed land mine while backpacking through the Georgian countryside.

Trapped and unable to move, he is forced to watch while his lover, Alicia, is humiliated, attacked and brutalised by a stranger who stumbles upon the situation.

Why You Should Watch It: Landmine Goes Click carries the most 'gimmicky' concept on this list, but it's such an engaging one that you can forgive it's admittedly contrived setup.

The reason Chris ends up stood on the mine feels incredibly forced, but the movie quickly (and wisely) moves on from this and delves into the 'what-if' situation at hand.

And from here, it's a solid horror-thriller. The ordeal Alicia is forced to endure - including her eventual sexual assault - isn't exactly pleasant viewing, but the shock factor helps the movie's third-act twist (and subsequent conclusion) feel earned.

Landmine Goes Click certainly won't go down as a classic, but its tight script and strong performances elevate it above just a plain-old, bread and butter conceptual thriller.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
