10 Unintentionally Funny Moments In Star Wars
2. “And I… Am All The Jedi!”
Last year saw the release of The Rise of Skywalker and
with it came an end to the nine film, thirty three year run of the original
Skywalker saga. Luckily it was a great flick that no one had any notable issues
with and public discourse promptly moved on.
Okay, so the film was as divisive as every entry of the series has been upon arrival in the multiplexes, and split fans between ardent defenders and critics who questioned the film’s tonal departure from its predecessor (which had been criticised for its tonal departure from The Force Awakens, etc etc). However, there was one moment which even the film’s fondest defenders would have to admit was a bit misjudged, and we don’t mean the glorified cameo for Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico—though her role was reduced to one moment onscreen.
No, it’s Palpatine time again, though this time around the diminutive villain isn’t the one saddled with cringey dialogue—well, no cringier than his usual offerings, at least.
Instead it falls on the shoulders of our heroine Rey to respond when Palpatine claims he is all the Sith, and how does she counter the claim?
Well, remember the playground comeback “I know you are but what am I?”
That’s the energy coming from Rey’s stilted reply which pauses awkwardly before settling on just mirroring Palpatine’s claim by saying she's... All the Jedi.
