10 Unknown Actors Who Stole Movies Out From Their Famous Leads

5. Natalie Portman - Leon

Stole The Movie Out From: Jean Reno, Gary Oldman Natalie Portman is, without a doubt, one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood, appearing in Thor, Black Swan (for which she won an Oscar), V For Vendetta and Star Wars, plus she's worked for a number of fantastic directors and delivered a host of strong acting performances. If anything, this has been the case since her first appearance in Luc Besson's classic action flick, Leon. Starring alongside Jean Reno, a man who had made a name for himself in his native France, and Gary Oldman, fresh off the back of a bizarre turn in Tony Scott's True Romance, Portman applies herself very well to a complex role befitting the picture. Her character, Mathilda, is something we hadn't seen before. She has all the maturity of a young girl forced to raise herself in an inattentive household, who learns the tricks to being a master assassin from her conspicuous, reclusive neighbour - commanding every scene in the process. It's a hard role to swallow, but Portman brings it to life admirably. From here she went on to feature in Heat, matching Al Pacino and Robert De Niro with her on-screen charisma, and the rest was history.

I love all things imaginative, from the page to the screen, and nurture a soft spot for Donald Sutherland and Daniel Bryan.
