8. Men in Black II (2002)

I loved Men in Black. I really did. I thought it was a movie that combined comedy, action and sci-fi perfectly. But there was no need for a sequel. Despite making $441,818,803 worldwide, the second instalment lacked the originality of the original and relied on familiar formulas instead of trying something fresh. Actually, I would say that it's pretty much a remake of the original and that is never good for a sequel. That doesn't mean to say that performances weren't good, as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were as entertaining as ever. The special effects were also fantastic for the time of release. But that distinct lack of originality brought it down completely. Then, Men in Black III was made. The story tried something new, but again, they should've stopped in 1997.
