10 Unreleased Movie Cuts We Want To See After The Snyder Cut

5. Hancock: The R-Rated Cut

All of the marketing materials for Hancock, and even the first act of the movie itself, made it look as though we were in store for an entirely different kind of superhero adventure. Sadly, all of the premise's undoubted potential was abandoned in favor of a devolution into standard summer blockbuster fare.

The idea of a booze-addled person with superpowers that doesn't give a sh*t about society or what people think is a great hook, but by the end of Hancock we once again found ourselves in familiar territory as a leather-clad crime-fighter gets saves the day and gets a happy ending.

Having already been subjected to heavy edits in order to secure a PG-13 rating, it was clear that the desire to make money was the priority over trying to put a fresh spin on a familiar formula, and while there was an 'unrated' cut that added a dozen extra minutes included as part of the home video release, it still didn't come close to scratching the surface of the superhero deconstruction that featured so prominently in the original script.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
