4. Jamie Foxx as Spawn

Now this one has a chaotic history even as a mere rumour, so bear with.

Controversial comic creator Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn, an iconic dark superhero comic from the nineties, already had a doomed, highly compromised cinematic adaptation circa 1997, starring Black Dynamite’s Michael Jai White.

For years the influential artist has discussed a grittier, edgier reboot now that superhero movies are a hot commodity and Deadpool has long proven the potential inherent in adapting darker, R-rated properties to the big screen. Meanwhile, rumours that "an Oscar winning star" (reportedly Ray's Best Actor winner Jamie Foxx) would play the titular hellspawn in said re-imagining have been circulating for a couple of years now.

However MacFarlane has since walked back these claims, bemoaning that the star in question fell through due to a lack of availability and as such the project's future may be in jeopardy.

It’s impossible to tell whether the Baby Driver star is attached or not, but he’d be a perfect fit for the dark horror anti-hero.
