10 Upcoming Horror Movie Rumours We Hope Are True

5. Ryan Gosling as (Leigh Whannell’s) The Wolfman

Yes, the so-called Dark Universe may have seemed dead and buried after 2017’s laughably misjudged The Mummy reboot flopped (never drop someone as loveable as Brendan Fraser for Tom Cruise, truly a rookie mistake).

But nothing is ever really dead in horror, and the recent Elizabeth Moss vehicle The Invisible Man proved a smash hit during lockdown and was one of few projects released during this year's unprecedented period of quarantine which went on to become a genuine word-of-masked-mouth phenomenon.

Now, Drive star Ryan Gosling is attached to play the Wolfman in a film which will try to rehabilitate the lycanthrope image for cinema-goers. But lest this sound like an inevitable expensive flop (hey there, 2010’s underrated Benicio del Toro outing os the same name), more recent rumours suggest The Invisible Man helmer Whannell may be attached to ensure the project lives up to its serious potential.

Maybe this will make up for the definitely kibosh-ed American Werewolf in London remake floated by disgraced screenwriter Max Landis.
