There's absolutely no doubting the unmatched star-power of UFC icon Conor McGregor.

And it's often seemed like only a matter of time before the former Featherweight and Lightweight Champion decided to broaden his horizons and lend his eye-catching name to a big-screen endeavour. Sure enough, said fantasy became a reality recently with his casting alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming Road House remake.

With the project set to focus on a former UFC fighter, played by Gyllenhaal, taking a job as a bouncer at a "rough-and-tumble roadhouse", the smart money would've been on Mystic Mac playing a fictional version of himself as a way of easing his way into the moviemaking business.

News of the UFC star actually taking on an original character in his big-screen debut, however, could be a recipe for disaster for director Doug Liman, with the admittedly charismatic entity being completely unproven on the cinema stage.

As with any Conor project, though, the end results will no doubt pull in a ton of eyes from all around the world. But if his questionable work in the Burger King commercials is anything to go by, Road House could merely act as McGregor's latest "L".
