10 Upcoming Movie Reboots That Might Actually Work
9. Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City
Though Paul W.S. Anderson's six-movie Resident Evil franchise wrapped up back in 2016, there was no chance Hollywood was going to leave such a lucrative brand name collecting dust for long.
And so, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City wrapped shooting late last year, a total continuity reboot from filmmaker Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night) which will be based on the first two games in the series.
Considering that the Anderson franchise was an extremely loose interpretation of the games, picking and choosing the elements they wanted to include in a mostly-new story, fans will be relieved to see this new take hewing closer to the source material.
Roberts is admittedly a bit of a wild card director, his keen sense of style often undermined by mediocre scripts, but with a strong ensemble cast - led by Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, and Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine - it's easy to be optimistic.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is currently set to release on November 24 of this year.
