10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Wants

There aren't many cinematic franchises that can get even close to six films without losing the spark that made them so beloved to begin with. Certainly, there are exceptions to the rule, but it doesn't seem as though Ice Age is one of them.

As a charming animated feature back in 2002, buoyed by the popularity of Scrat, Ice Age was a hit. However, 22 years later things have steadily gotten worse and worse for the franchise. The original is the only entry with a Fresh score on the Tomatometer, with the series-low score of 18% coming with Ice Age: Collision Course in 2016.

So critical success has been rather elusive for the Ice Age movies, but money has always come through the door. Still, while a gross of $408 million on a reported budget of $105 million may not seem too bad (numbers as per Box Office Mojo), the fifth film brought in significantly less than the near-$900 million Ice Age: Continental Drift earned four years earlier.

Another eight years has passed and no one has exactly been clamouring for another Ice Age movie, as proven by the poor reception to the 2022 spin-off, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. There really doesn't seem to be much reason to be optimistic about the release of a sixth instalment in the franchise.
