10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Aren't What You Think
3. Wonder Woman 1984 ISN'T Using Time Travel
Wonder Woman 1984 may still be almost a year away from release, but the film has been in the can for quite some time, and the few glimpses we've seen so far have confirmed that Diana's (Gal Gadot) love interest Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) will be returning...despite sacrificing himself at the end of the previous film, set some 66 years before this sequel.
Though the most prominent theories point to Trevor returning either by means of time travel or an appearance by Trevor's uncanny grandson, it's looking increasingly likely that the truth is quite different - and far, far weirder.
If speculation is to be believed - and it definitely is - Trevor will be resurrected after Diana makes a deal with businessman Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), who in fact turns out to be the God Hades in disguise.
Diana will do Hades' bidding in exchange for Trevor's revival, resulting in his temporary resurrection, until the deal inevitably has disastrous consequences for the world and, presumably, Trevor will return to the void by film's end.
Timey-wimey shenanigans may be all the rage in blockbusters right now, but the DCEU has enough problems delivering a consistent narrative as it is. The Wonder Woman sequel will not be going in that direction.
