10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Really Aren't Wanted

3. The Nun 2

The Conjuring-verse is a money-making machine, with each movie's low budget allowing them to generate an insane return-on-investment at the box-office.

2018 spinoff The Nun is actually the highest-grossing instalment yet, besting both Conjuring movies, and the Annabelle trilogy. Unsurprisingly then, a sequel was commissioned shortly after its release, with screenwriter Akela Cooper being hired in April 2019.

Why It Isn't Wanted

The Nun may be the most financially successful movie in the Conjuring franchise, but it's also the worst in terms of quality.

Valak the demon nun is a terrifying creation, no doubt, but considering that the film failed to utilise her for any memorable or creative scares (boring jump scares... yay), perhaps this is a sign that she isn't suited to leading her own series.

Valak simply isn't as interesting as the filmmakers think she is - she worked much better as a side threat in The Conjuring 2 than she did in her own star vehicle, and considering how bad that first movie was, it's tough to get excited for another one.
