10 Upcoming Movies That Just Got Delayed
4. Michael
Now for some news that really shouldn't surprise anyone who's been paying attention to the production of Antoine Fuqua's Michael Jackson biopic.
Though initially scheduled for release on April 18, 2025, it was first pushed back to October 3, 2025, though in recent months reports emerged that the film was also struggling to meet that date.
This was reportedly because the filmmakers learned during editing that the Jackson estate had previously signed an agreement meaning they couldn't feature Jordan Chandler, an alleged victim of sexual abuse by Jackson, in any authorised biopic of the singer.
As a result, a significant portion of Michael's third act had to be reshot in order to make the film releasable, and so it wasn't remotely surprising when Lionsgate confirmed a 2026 delay back in July.
Michael has now moved from its awards-friendly October date to April 24, 2026, all while rumours continue to swirl about the studio possibly splitting the movie into a two-part event.
