3. Mother Mary
Mother Mary is an epic drama from the brilliant David Lowery (A Ghost Story, The Green Knight) that follows the strange relationship between a musician (Anne Hathaway) and a fashion designer (Michaela Coel).
Lowery's film began shooting in May 2023 and was wrapped by July 2024, with the fair expectation that it would likely release sometime in 2025 following a premiere at a major festival like Sundance, SXSW, Cannes, or TIFF.
Though the first image from the movie released last November, we've had absolutely no official follow-up in the nine months since and it hasn't been announced for any late 2025 festivals at the time of press.
Furthermore, reports suggest that the film will likely end up slipping from its expected 2025 release date to sometime in 2026.
Screening reports have painted Mother Mary as divisive, and Lowery himself called it a "weird, weird film" last summer, but even so, it's odd for a film featuring an A-lister to still have such a low profile more than a year after it completed shooting.
