The Elevator Pitch: Nicolas Cage as Dracula. 'Nuff said.

Umm... we can just stop there, right? Do you need to know more? Watching Nic Cage bring his trademark wackiness to Dracula is about as strong as sales pitches get!

Well, okay then, here's more.

Renfield is currently being packaged over at Universal, with an original story outline from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and a script from Rick And Morty's Ryan Ridley. Nicholas Hoult will play the title character - essentially Dracula's acolyte - and The LEGO Batman Movie's Chris McKay will direct.

But really, this one's all about Cage. The man has done nothing but quirky indie films for the last ten years, so to watch him bring some of those experimental sensibilities to a major studio picture is going to be a sight to see. And considering the fact that Renfield is going to have a comedic tone, the stage is set for Cage to go "full Cage".

Plus, if his previous bloodsucker role in 1989's Vampire's Kiss is any indication, then Renfield could end up being the most meme-worthy performance of Cage's career.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
