10 Upcoming Movies That Will (Probably) Tease Cinematic Universes

For does who didn't watch the first Tomb Raider film starring Alicia Vikander in 2018, it was something of a mixed bag. Vikander was a great successor to Angelina Jolie, and the classic action-adventure vibe gave the film enough staying-power to get you through the film. Alas, the plot was somewhat mediocre and uneventful, teasing world-threatening stakes and delivering a supernatural threat contained to a handful of characters and extras.

Nevertheless, a sequel was just recently announced with Vikander returning and Ben Wheatley taking over directorial duties from Roar Uthuag. Excitement isn't exactly through the roof for this announcement, but it is nice to know that MGM hasn't given up on the iconic heroine the same way that Warner Bros. has.

While fans of the first film will be looking out for a continuation of the Trinity storyline that was teased at the end of the first film - and was the main narrative of the trilogy these films are inspired by - they shouldn't be completely surprised to find prophecies of a larger shared universe. It's no secret that Square Enix owns a plethora of video game franchises, such as Hitman and Deus Ex, that could be folded into a franchise. It's not a good idea, but the race for a shared universe grows continuously more desperate!
