10 Upcoming Remakes That Might Actually Be Great
8. The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
1992's psychological thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is a bonafide cult classic, a primo slice of ridiculous trash cinema that's held together by an outstanding performance from Rebecca De Mornay as a woman who targets another woman wgo accuses her husband of sexual misconduct, prompting him to kill himself.
Honestly, it's shocking that it's taken over 30 years for this certified box office smash - which grossed $140 million against an $11.9 million budget - to get the Hollywood remake treatment. But back in September, it was announced that Michelle Garza Cervera (Huesera: The Bone Woman) would write and direct a remake, with Maika Monroe set to play the De Mornay role while Mary Elizabeth Winstead will portray her intended victim.
That's quite the trio of talent, and given the potential for a contemporary remake to reconsider the original story through a whole new lens re: the #MeToo movement, it shouldn't feel like a redundant retelling.
