'Only Christopher Nolan could make a confusing film look so epic.' A sentiment that fans of the visionary director have been stating for the past decade - and looking at the trailer for his next offering, Tenet, it's hard to say otherwise.

The upcoming action thriller follows John David Washington's protagonist as he works for a mysterious organization known only as Tenet. His mission: To prevent World War III. Sounds pretty action thrillery, right? Well, in order to do that, he must also learn how to master the art of inverting time - as in, running backwards through it.

Like all of Nolan's films, this one appears to toy with the very ideas of science fiction without ever leaving the realistic world it resides in. It's an exquisite approach - one that not everyone might appreciate - but it's one that that somehow manages to allow his science fiction entries to live both within the genre and outside of it.

Originally set to be one of the first major releases when the cinemas open back up in July, it has now been delayed until mid-August. Whether or not it goes ahead remains to be seen. However, when it is safe to go and see it, you can rest assured fans will be curious to see what creative ideas Nolan's latest adventure explores.
