10 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies To Be Excited About
4. A Quiet Place Part II
It's hard to describe the level of success that 2018's A Quiet Place enjoyed. Oh sure, a modestly-budgeted sci-fi horror that chose to rely on atmosphere over special effects and featured Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the lead roles was always going to be a success, but its complete and utter domination of the box-office (and the critical acclaim it subsequently received) was something to marvel at.
Though a sequel was never expected by the creative team, its success made it inevitable and, after initially refusing to take part in it, Krasinski (who also directed the first film) came up with an idea for A Quiet Place Part II. And, after writing the script, Paramount greenlit his idea.
The first film's innovative approach when it came to creating a horrifying atmosphere took cues from classics like Alien, while also coming up with its own imaginative ways of setting itself apart. It may not have needed a sequel per se, but the idea of seeing another installment in this genius franchise is admittedly quite exciting.
Originally planned to release in March, the film has been delayed to September, and even though that's a notoriously quiet time of year for the cinema, this isn't a normal year.
