10 Upcoming Sequels And Reboots That Will Destroy Your Faith In Cinema
8. London Has Fallen
Due for release in January 2016, the dumping ground for films that can’t compete with Star Wars, London Is Fallen is the follow up to Olympus Has Fallen, and even those who enjoyed the original will be perplexed to learn it needed a sequel.
Described by The Wall Street Journal as “tedious, odious and oppressive”, Olympus opened at #2 in 2013 and made barely $100 million in the US, despite a cast that included Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler. White House Down gave us the exact same terrorists-in-the-White-House shtick, except it was fun to watch, so the expectations for this follow up are not high.
Once again, Butler plays a crack Secret Service agent, this time guarding Eckhart from terrorists at – get this – the graveside of the recently assassinated British Prime Minister, where all the other world leaders have gathered. The smart money says there’ll be an action sequence involving a terrorist with a bazooka and a stolen hearse with a coffin in the back.
