10 Valentine's Horror Films That Will Make You Glad To Be Single

3. Misery

Misery is one of the more unconventional love stories on this list (apart from maybe Love Object. Or May. Or The Loved Ones. Actually, Misery might be one of the least weird on this list). The film is based on a Stephen King novel with the supremely creepy Kathy Bates - way before her horrific stint on American Horror Story: Coven - in the role of Annie Wilkes, a super-fan who happens to come across the object of her affection (author Paul Sheldon) unconscious in a snow drift. Some girls have all the luck. As a nurse, Wilkes appoints herself as Paul's personal carer as he recovers from a car accident. We soon discover, however, that Wilkes' status of "super-fan" goes far beyond that of throwing her knickers at Justin Bieber. She discovers that Paul killed off her favourite character in his series of books and insists that he writes a new novel bringing her back to life. To ensure compliance she straps him to a bed and smashes his ankles, whilst treating him to romantic candlelit dinners and calling him "pumpkin". Bates brings a sublime terror to Wilkes' character, and demonstrates perfectly the lengths that love will go.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
