4. Tekken
You know things are bad when the director of a video game series says that the movie based off his game is "terrible." Katsuhiro Harada, producer and director of the series, claims that Namco was not able to supervise the movie as it was produced which ultimately hurt the quality of the film. On the flip side, Tekken isn't a terrible film. It's not great by any means, but its futuristic plot line and dark tone, mixed with solid fight scenes makes for a decent film. It is on par with Mortal Kombat as it follows the same kind of tournament fight outline that many films before it have embraced; but the story doesn't flow very well. The plot lines of Jin, Kazuya, and Heihachi try to weave in and out of the movie to create some type of cohesiveness, which leaves things convoluted. Tekken was an American produced film, but was never released in the U.S. It was not well received in Japan and other Pacific areas, so it took the direct to video path to the U.S. and U.K.
