Paranormal Activity 4 had plenty of problems, and one of the worst was the laughable product placement for Microsoft's Kinect, in that it actually became a plot point, being used to identify some of the activity taking place in the house. Given that it's a relatively new technological item, it really felt like Microsoft had thrown a few million at the producers for the favour, whereas the appearance of toys like Teddy Ruxpin (Paranormal Activity 3) and the electronic memory game Simon (The Marked Ones) didn't seem quite so awful, because they are already well established products and fit the narrative better. Still, it'd be nice if they could tone the product placement down a bit for PA5. This isn't to say the film shouldn't feature real world items, but we've seen enough of demons interacting with technology. What about trying something new? I don't know what, mind, but this shtick is getting old fast.
