10 Ways Sony Could Have Saved The Spider-Man Franchise Without Marvel
4. Spider-Men
Spider-Men focused on the first meeting of the classic Peter Parker and his ultimate counterpart Miles Morales, but Sony's version could have breathed new life into the franchise by having Andrew Garfield's Spidey coming face to face with Tobey Maguire's. With Sam Raimi possibly back as director, an adventure featuring the two Spider-Men could have been truly epic if handled the right way, even if the two aren't all that different. In all honestly, it could have just boiled down to a cameo if Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man had taken on someone like Mysterio, but letting fans know that the two were going to meet would have undoubtedly increased interest in the third instalment. Would it have saved the franchise? It almost reeks of desperation, but it might have at got people talking about the series again. Had that not worked, how about bypassing Marvel and making a deal with Fox for a Spider-Man/Wolverine team-up? It sounds unlikely, but would have probably made Spidey more of a bargaining chip.
