3. Krennic Was Originally A Double Agent

Krennic wasn’t quite the iconic villain Rogue One needed, but Ben Mendelsohn helped make him an enjoyably weasely figure. In the movie he’s an out and out douche, but in the original outline he was a little more complex.

It turns out Krennic was actually part of Jyn’s rebel crew, but he was also a double agent, slipping rebel plans to the Empire and generally being a nuisance. The character underwent massive changes during rewrites, and at one point he was also supposed to have a nasty facial scar, before this too was dropped.

His scene with Darth Vader was also reshot, and originally took place on a Star Destroyer. It was decided this locale wasn’t all that dynamic, so they changed it to a Mustafar instead. Speaking of...
