10 Ways Superhero Movies & TV Shows Will Be Affected By Current World Events
7. Black Widow Won't Be Coming To Disney+ (Yet)
Universal Pictures recently pushed F9 back by a year, but followed that with the shocking decision to release Trolls World Tour on Digital, and to have The Invisible Man and The Hunt also be released that way months sooner than planned.
Disney has also put Frozen 2 on Disney+ three months early, while Warner Bros. is putting Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey on Digital around five weeks after its release in cinemas.
As a result, it's no real surprise that there are a lot of fans out there hoping Marvel Studios will treat them in this difficult time by just putting Black Widow straight on Disney+. It's a nice idea, but also one which makes absolutely no sense from a financial perspective. Yes, it would drive up subscriptions, but nowhere near enough to recoup a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars.
The movies that go straight to Disney+ have budgets of around $50 million - $70 million, so Black Widow was never meant for anything other than a threatrical debut, sadly.
