10 Ways Trailers Are Secretly Ruining Movies

7. Ruining The Twist Just To Get Your Attention

Some films, on the other hand, give away what is often the most diverting thing about their film just to ensure that you actually go see it. Take Terminator Salvation, a hugely disappointing film that nevertheless had an impressive plot twist, that Sam Worthington's Marcus Wright seemed to be a Terminator who thinks that he's human. While the trailer still kept things somewhat ambiguous, how mind-blowing would it have been if we went in knowing virtually nothing about Wright, and then this blind-sided us? Given that it is revealed a good way into the film, to ruin it in a trailer seems like a desperation move, presenting a hook to try and ensure that people go see the film. But let's be honest, it's a freaking Terminator film; people will go and see it.
