7. Walter Koenig – Star Trek

Sorry in advance to all Trekkies out there for the impending Admiral Chekov-bashing.

Walter Koenig’s Russian accent has oft been the focus of much debate. The main bone of contention with it is his mispronunciation of ‘v’ as ‘w’.

Fun fact about the Russian language: they have no ‘w’ in their alphabet, nor any letter than sounds like it.

The man himself weighed in on the matter in 2009, stating “the fact of the matter is, my father was Russian, and that’s the way he spoke. Now you either buy it or you don’t, but that’s the way he spoke”. So apparently his father was also terrible at Russian accents too.

If there is one thing we do know for a fact, it is that in space, you don’t drive spaceship, spaceship drives you.
