10 Worst Instances Of Marvel Movies Dropping The Ball
8. X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men: The Last Stand was a mess. There's no getting away from it. At the time of its release, it was the third X-Men movie and was a major step down in quality from the previous two instalments (X-Men and X-Men 2). Now that seven movies have been made in the franchise, it has only been surpassed in terms of poor quality by X-Men Origins: Wolverine but, as a solo outing for Wolverine, that movie had a lesser negative impact on the franchise overall. Not having the Phoenix as the main plot was its biggest mistake - and portraying the character infinitely weaker than her comic book counterpart was another - while killing off Cyclops so early in the movie was another. There also horrible and underused versions of key comic book characters like the Juggernaut, Psylocke and Kid Omega also did the movie no favours whatsoever. It was so bad that it could have been a franchise killer. Thankfully, the excellent X-Men: First Class brought it back to life five years later, and the series is now thriving again.
