10 Worst Movies From Otherwise Great Franchises

7. Fast & Furious (2009) - The Fast And The Furious Franchise

The Fast and the Furious is a very good blockbuster franchise. Yes, it's not for everyone, but thanks to the great cast, witty scripts, strong visuals and amazing action scenes, these movies are good for what they are.

The films prior to the franchise-best Fast Five were less successful, but since the 2001 original is a good (if dated) action flick and the second and third films are OK, there's only one flat-out bad movie in the franchise: the unimaginatively titled fourth film, Fast & Furious.

Fast & Furious moved away from the street racing theme of the first three films towards the heist story-lines of later sequels, but the writers got the tone completely wrong. Misguidedly, this instalment is an overly serious mystery in which Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel in a franchise-worst performance) tries to find who's responsible for the death of his girlfriend, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).

Rather than being fun, this is a gritty, mopey and boring affair that doesn't even offer any particularly good action scenes. Still, at least we got Fast Five two years later.
