10 Worst PG-13 Horror Films Since 2020

3. Night Swim

Horror has a proud history of taking things that aren’t normally considered scary and turning them into nightmare fuel. Sometimes though, even the best minds in the business can’t make something scary, as was discovered with the release of 2024’s Night Swim.

After Ray Waller comes down with a mystery illness, he and his family move to a new home with a swimming pool which should help with his rehabilitation. As Ray spends more and more time in the pool, he starts to exhibit stranger and stranger behaviour, as he has been possessed by the evil spirit that lives in the water.

Drowning is a nasty way to go and there have been plenty of great horrors set at sea, but a domestic swimming pool? You’re going to need to put some serious work in to make people afraid of that.

Sadly, Night Swim did not do the work and, as a result, the characters never feel like they’re in any real danger, rendering the whole thing completely pointless.
