10 Worst Summer Movies Of All Time

8. Mac And Me

Transformers Bumblebee2
Orion Pictures

Release Date: 12 August 1988

Jennifer Aniston made her film debut as an extra in this ET rip-off about a handicapped boy who befriends an alien called MAC (short for “Mysterious Alien Creature”). Ronald McDonald also appears (as “Himself”) during a party scene set in a McDonald’s, which allows him to shamelessly plug his junk food.

The Razzies weren’t fooled by this bit of self-promotion and at their 9th annual ceremony they nominated the picture in 4 categories, from which it “won” Worst Director for Stewart Raffill (tied with Blake Edwards for Sunset) and Worst New Star for Ronald McDonald. The film has previously held a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls the picture a “thinly-veiled feature length commercial for McDonald’s and Coca-Cola.”

Small world dept: the actor who plays Ronald, Squire Fridell, later played the Sheriff in John Carpenter’s Village Of The Damned – a movie about a group of abnormal children. No conclusions here, just some "food for thought".
