7. House On Haunted Hill

Taking a detour back to the 1950s, House on Haunted Hill is one of the original game show horrors to grace our cinemas. Trapping five people in a house populated by ghosts and murderers, a $10,000 prize is on the cards for whoever can last the night. With a seriously creepy host and some dancing skeletons that even Dungeons and Dragons would envy, the campy horror film is as entertaining as they get.

Whilst it isn’t quite as challenge-based as other entries on this list, the concept of the film is one that was recreated many times afterwards, even inspiring Hitchcock himself.

As goofy as old horror films get and playing on the fears of both the house’s contests and the audience themselves, House on Haunted Hill is a classic for more than its black and white frames.
