If you haven’t seen Malignant yet then my advice to you is to get in quick, as there’s only so long you can go without seeing spoilers that will completely ruin the movie for you. The best way to watch is - as I did - to go in completely blind, knowing nothing more than the basic premise of the film.
Protagonist Madison finds herself watching murders live as they happen, as if through a psychic link. She knows that the killings are somehow linked to something she experienced in childhood or someone she knew, but doesn’t understand how or why.
Directed by horror hard-hitter James Wan, it is potentially the most bonkers mainstream horror created in the last decade. It has gained a lot of recognition for its completely left-field high concept, its homage to horror classics and its overall unique and refreshing contribution to the genre.
One simple Google search will show you how controversial the movie is (and also a hell of a lot of spoilers, so maybe don’t Google it), but that is what makes it so great. You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it, but you won’t be able to guess how it ends, that’s for sure!
