11 Horror Movie Hotels That You Do Not Want To Stay In

1. The Overlook Hotel - The Shining/Doctor Sleep

Made famous in the Stanley Kubrick phenomenon that is The Shining, The Overlook has been the hotel that has plagued everyone's minds since the movie released in 1980 - and that is no small accomplishment.

From the outside The Overlook seems almost pleasant, with its mountainous surroundings and snowy setting, the grand old building seemed to beckon you in. Perhaps that is because it does.

In both The Shining movie and the more recent Doctor Sleep, we are presented with The Overlook and told that it is a hungry, if not starving, place that feeds on the lifeforce of anyone that dares enter its walls. We observe, in The Shining, as a family is tormented and driven to the edge all to feed the hulking mass that is The Overlook. We helplessly watch as the hotel puts on a front as some simple haunted venue, with blood cascading out of elevators and ghosts on every corner, all to cover up its true motives.

It is not until Doctor Sleep that we come to realise that there was so much more going on. The Overlook takes what it wants, and if you manage to escape its biting grasp, it won't rest until it can have you once and for all.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
