11 Lame Comic Book Movies You Had No Idea Even Existed

7. The Punisher (1989)

10243972_ori When you think of the Punisher, you probably think about Thomas Jayne and that adaptation we got in 2004, or that, uh, 2008 version with that other actor in it, right? But this Marvel icon found his way onto the big screen long before any of those movies did. Yes, there's a Punisher movie from 1989 and it stars Dolph Lundgren and it's totally real. I don't know and I don't exactly care - fact is, this version is cheesy as hell, and kind of€ fun? All right, so it's absolutely terrible in every way, but I don't think it's possible to sit through the whole of this movie and not enjoy it just a little bit. I mean, aside from the great one-liners, the special effects look like placeholders for actual special effects that the filmmakers just never got around to putting in. And this is fine, I think, because the bad guy in The Punisher wears a denim jacket: here's a movie that certainly knows its era. For those of you who are familiar with the Punisher as a character, you'll know he's a kind of "anti-superhero," in the sense that he's totally up for murdering people if the situation calls for it. The only thing that gets murdered here, though, is the poor guy's reputation (well, and all the people that get murdered). Still, the denim more than makes up for that.
