In the trailers and television spots for Avengers: Age of Ultron, the titular robotic villain speaks of the key to world peace being "your extinction". The obvious conclusion to draw from that is that he is referring to the human race being killed en masse until they are no more - but could he simply be referring to the Avengers and bringing them to an end? If that's the case, this movie may actually end with him as the victor. The next time audiences see the Avengers, they will be at odds with each other in Captain America: Civil War, so Ultron's actions undoubtedly cause a rift - a fact that is fairly evident from the trailers and television spots anyway. With that in mind, even if he is physically defeated, he would still have earned the victory he aimed for - but it's arguable that he won't be physically defeated anyway. As an artificial intelligence that is capable of inhabiting anything technological, Ultron's consciousness may well survive even after his body is broken.
