3. The Winter Soldier Kills Peter's Parents Too – Spider-Man: Homecoming
It was rumoured for awhile, but Civil War finally confirmed the Winter Soldier was the one who killed Tony Stark’s parents, and he didn’t take the news very well. He appears to have settled down following a big scrap between him, Bucky and Cap, and in Homecoming, he’ll be focused on being a mentor to Peter Parker.
Stark makes for an intriguing father figure for Peter, but there’s a theory they might connect in an oddly specific way too. According to speculation, Hydra was also responsible for the deaths of Peter’s parents, who might have been former agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The hitman – once again – was Bucky, meaning Tony and Peter will have a mutual figure to hate. It would also tie one of Bucky’s trigger words "Homecoming" back into Spider-Man’s story.
That’s just wild speculation at this stage, and it feels like a bit of a reach.
