12 Actors Who Admitted Doing A Movie Purely For The Money

Hey, we all have to eat.

While most actors will paint a picture of their work as a noble, artistic endevour, for the majority it€™s a job like everything else. They'll appear in just about anything so long as it pays the rent. After all, bills aren€™t going to get paid with artistic integrity. There€™s also the illusion that once an actor reaches the A-list - they're secure enough to do any film they please. Again, not true. If it was then every film with a big name cast would be amazing, which is clearly not the case. They€™re human like everyone else, so they€™ll never be immune to the lure of easy money. Plus, they have to make movies that have a chance of being successful, so if that means a choice between a slushy romantic comedy or a braindead action movie, so be it - just take the one that pays more. Sometimes they€™ll have so little interest in what they€™ve signed up for that the money is the only thing driving them...

12. Ben Affleck - Michael Jennings (Paycheck)

An easy entry to kick things off - this is a move where the title explains all. For Ben Affleck part of the appeal of Paycheck was working with action legend John Woo, who directed The Killer and Hard Boiled; he got to do some slo-mo gunplay, a Mexican stand-off and all that good stuff. As fun as that must have been, even he knew the film was a turkey in the making. When asked in an interview why he made it he said €œThe answer lies in the title.€ He was being was tongue in cheek, though he later admitted that the movies made during this period of his career - namely Paycheck, Daredevil and Gigli - were all huge mistakes. He made a comeback a few years later making some quality movies, though Runner, Runner showed he could still be tempted by a quick payday. His co-star Paul Giamatti repeated this sentiment during another interview, where he referred to the movie as €œthe aptly-named Paycheck€.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
