12 Actors Who Could Breakout In 2017

There aren't too many directors who get fans excited about a new project more than Christopher Nolan. Ever since he drew audiences in with his cerebral thrillers Memento and Insomnia, before striking it big with the Dark Knight series, we've been clamoring for whatever is next for the impressive auteur. Dunkirk is a much more grounded project than his other films, and unlike his other films, it has an unknown actor in the lead role.

While the film features the likes of Tom Hardy and Mark Rylance, it's Fionn Whitehead who is the star of the show. Nolan chose Whitehead after a long search for his leading man which included mostly unknown actors. He'll portray a young solider in the the story of the real-life mass evacuation of Allied soldiers during WWII.

The summer season is typically filled with superhero films and sequels, so Nolan's wartime tale will standout among the pack. With Nolan's name on the poster, the film already has a good shot at becoming one of the biggest films of the year.

It will be interesting to see how Whitehead will handle leading such a massive production, but there's no doubt that this is a tremendous opportunity for the young actor. Who knows, after this Whitehead might become a permanent member of Nolan's loyal group of actors.
