12 Actors Who Did Career Worst Work In 2018
4. John Travolta (Gotti & Speed Kills)
Ah, John Travolta. Despite being recently nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his work on The People v. O. J. Simpson, the former Hollywood A-lister is pretty much trapped in the straight-to-VOD dungeon as far as his his movie career is concerned (his last major theatrical release was 2012's Savages).
2018 saw the Grease star plummet to a new low, however, by pulling a Bruce Willis and releasing back-to-back 0% movies.
First up was the legendarily awful crime biopic Gotti, in which Travolta played a jittery, unintentional parody of legendary mobster John Gotti and left critics unsure whether to cringe or laugh.
Then came the absurd action thriller Speed Kills, in which Travolta played real-life speedboat racing champion Don Aronow.
Shot alongside a (surely terrible) VR companion film, it's a staggeringly inept piece of filmmaking topped by surely the single most dead-on-arrival performance of the Oscar nominee's career.
With 2019 set to see Travolta star in another VOD actioner called Trading Paint and then a thriller directed by Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst of all people, it's hard to have much faith in a sudden career turnaround. But at least topping the awfulness of Travolta's 2018 would be seriously impressive.
