8. Tom Hiddleston - Pirates Of The Caribbean

This failed audition doesn't just fall under the influence of alcohol, but also has to be pegged as a serious misjudgement by the actor in question.

Back before Orlando Bloom was cast as Will Turner in the first Pirates Of The Caribbean movie (for which he beat Heath Ledger as the other finalist), Tom Hiddleston was called in to try-out. Sadly for him, when he was sent the pages he was supposed to learn the night before the audition, he thought the script was terrible and instead of taking the time to prepare properly, he went out with his friend, who had finished his university exams to celebrate after only a couple of hours of prep.

A few drinks turned into a party and Hiddleston says he "got absolutely off my face" and then went along to the audition at 10am without knowing the lines. He failed it, inevitably and got a little slap on the wrist from the casting director, before later finding out the film was what it was: a potentially huge break for him.
