12 Badass MCU Plans That Should NEVER Have Been Scrapped
6. Maya Hansen As Iron Man 3's Main Antagonist
Iron Man 3, easily the most divisive movie in the history of the MCU, had more than its share of problems. The first entry in the trilogy without Jon Favreau at the helm tried too hard to be different, and ended up missing the mark set down by Iron Man and Avengers Assemble before it.
The biggest problem came on the villainous side of the story. With ‘The Mandarin’, Aldrich Killian, and Maya Hansen in the movie, there was a lot going on, but it was almost very different.
Rebecca Hall was originally signed on for a much bigger role that would have seen her become the movie’s main villain. Ultimately, however, Marvel decided against it because they felt a female main character wouldn’t sell enough toys. Instead, Guy Pearce came in as the big bad of the movie, knocking Hansen down to a secondary character.
You can tell when watching the movie that the actress isn’t giving her best, and you can’t blame her. This is a rare error in judgement from Marvel, and one that may have harmed the movie significantly. Hansen had the potential to be a great character and an excellent villain, but instead became as forgettable as the movie itself.
